Lost in the Reptile House

Clive Limpkin’s Fleet Street career uniquely combined photography, (ranging from the first nude in The Sun to his coverage of the Northern Ireland Troubles which won the Robert Capa Gold Medal from Life magazine), to feature writing for The Sunday Times, The Observer and the Daily Mail.

For thirty five years there was no pattern, no pace, no routine; here was episodic anarchistic high-adrenalin madness, for no job on Earth offered greater variety or greater drama from a greater cast – and he kept a diary to prove it.

Now you can read about those days and see those photographs in his autobiography, ‘Lost in the Reptile House,’ an irreverent, unsugared view of the sharp end of the circus that was Fleet Street.
